RANFOSE Food Fortification Program
Description: USAID’s four-year food fortification project (RANFOSE) seeks to improve health and nutrition outcomes by addressing the linked issues of micronutrient deficiencies and food fortification. Micronutrient deficiencies continue to pose a major challenge in Haiti. Based on 2016-2017 Demographic Health Survey data, 66% of children under five are anemic as are 49% of women of reproductive age. The RANFOSE project works with importers, distributors, and local food producers to fortify wheat flour with iron and folic acid, vegetable oils with vitamin A, and salt with iodine.
