In the days following Jovenel Moïse’s death, opposition leaders met to begin laying the groundwork for what comes next. They joined forces to form a nine-member commission tasked with facilitating dialogue on how to identify credible figures to replace Moïse and his government.

According to the opposition, the commission was installed on Wednesday, October 2. Here’s who’s involved in what they’re calling the “Commission de facilitation de la passation du pouvoir” (Commission for Facilitating the Transfer of Power), just formed by opposition leaders:

The nine members are:

1. Antoine Augustin (political activist and university professor);

2. Mrs Antoinette Duclair (petrochallenger and member of solidarity of the Haitian consumers);

3. Me Gervais Charles, former president of Port-au-Prince;

4. Michel Legros (Representative of the Union of Popular Forces);

5. Mrs. Claire Lydie parent, (former Mayor of Pétion city);

6. Father Grandois (Representative of the Forces of the Progressive Opposition);

7. Former Deputy Hugues Célestin;

8. The writer Gary Victor (Representative of the movement of the 3rd way of Réginald Boulos);

9. Colonel Himmler Rébu (former Minister under Martelly).

These citizens are tasked with selecting a Court of Cassation judge from a shortlist of three, and with forming a government — including choosing a prime minister and cabinet ministers — to replace President Jovenel Moïse.
